Philadelphia Story

So let me first say that I have flown in the past 2 years over 100,000 miles on a certain airline* that I have love/hate relationship with. At first, I loved that I could get work done while getting caught up with a marathon of 'Project Runway' on Bravo and scarfing down all the terra blue potato chips I could muster. Like all airlines, they are cutting corners. They cancelled my flight from JFK to SFO to due weather (I don't think it was due to snow in June), they doubled the cost of taking my kitty on the plane (and yet babies are free, and my cat doesn't utter a meow in her carrier). I had to buy a special suitcase to pack my light stands as the second checked bag is now charged an additional fee. My carry-on is a special bag that just clears the isle is packed with nearly all of my gear including laptop. It weighs 43 lbs, and it's funny when guys help me to put it in the overhead, they always say to me as they struggle to lift, "What do you have in here, bowling balls?" Anyway, I just needed to rant about my travels. I love both coasts like lovers I can't decide between, I just wish we could put the bay area 3000 miles closer to Boston.

The wedding of Kristin and Doug was wonderful,
but there was a lot of traffic and logistics involved. I had to fly to JFK as my chosen airline
doesn't fly to Philadelphia or anywhere near
it. We covered the rehearsal dinner at the Pyramid Club on Friday, which reminded me of the
State Room in Boston with it's 360 degree view (although it was funny to see on one side of the city the chemical plants of New Jersey in the sunset, ironically beautiful in the distance). On the wedding day, my second photographer Mary Flately stayed with the guys getting ready at our hotel in Phili, while I had to navigate to the bridal party getting ready at her parents' home in Clemeton, NJ. I couldn't put their address into
the GPS as they technically live at the Pine Valley Golf
Club in Pine Valley, NJ (their mailing address), but it doesn't exist on a map. Very odd. The church was about 30 minutes away (sans traffic from the nearby waterpark that added an hour) in the quaint town of Riverton, NJ. The event planner, Melissa Paul, had lots of her staff at the
event as there were so many places and traffic issues to deal with, and she pulled it off without a hitch. The reception was back at the exclusive Pine Valley Golf Club (which I was informed was the most exclusive golf club in the US) where they brides parents have an estate. The food was catered by Peachtree and Ward, and I didn't get to them all try (but photographed) the cutest little appetizers. My favorite was the midnight dessert/cigar bar, and they has this 'sweet sushi' which was actually a marzipan like candy but looked like a plastic sushi display. The cake was in the theme of the wedding-- hummingbirds, ladybugs, butterflies and dragonflies (all edible!) adorned. The band Soul System rocked the house, and they even changed outfits 3 times! The theme of the wedding was a garden party/dragonflies, and the invitations and everything printable was done by Arak Kanofsky, all of it a work of art. I was told even the dragonfly they used throughout was a commissioned piece of artwork made especially for their wedding from Heather Arak.
